It is with deep regret and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our Chief of Police and of our friend Loyd Maughn. Chief Maughn died December 27, and was laid to rest December 29, 2002. Our thoughts and sympathy are with his family.

IN THE NEWS...
DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT SOLVES SCHOOL VANDALISM:
Danville Police Officers recently solved a case where a Danville School building was vandalized by unknown persons, shooting out several windows using a BB gun. Danville Officers immediately started working on the case and had it solved with two arrests within 72 hours of the time of report. 07/02
POLICE DEPARTMENT HIRES NEW OFFICER:
Chief Loyd Maughn recently appointed Dolan Sharp as the new full time Danville Police Officer. Sharp had been working as a Deputy Sheriff with the Yell County Sheriff's Office, prior to his appointment. 06/02
OFFICER CHANGES STATUS FROM FULL TIME TO PART TIME OFFICER:
Chief Loyd Maughn and the Danville City Counsel approved Danville Police Officer Len Turner's request to change his employment status from full time to part time police officer for the City of Danville Police Department, effective June, 2002. 06/02
OFFICER PROMOTED TO CORPORAL:
Chief Loyd Maughn promoted Danville Officer Ricky Padgett to the rank of Corporal. Corporal Padgett will assist in the day to day operations within the police department, including crime stat reports and federal/state crime index reporting. 04/02
